ALDA ÇAPI
Alda is a licensed architect, avid designer, and founder of Alda Çapi Architecture.
With years of experience on award-winning residential, office, commercial, and institutional projects, Alda brings design excellence to her practice. The work has received recognition and has been published on various platforms.
Awards include the 2021 AIASF Merit Award, honored by the American Institute of Architects San Francisco jury, and the 2021 GADA First Place Award, honored by the jury of The Future Global Architecture Design Awards. Alda is the 2022 recipient of the Europe 40under40 Architecture and Design Awards organized by The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies and The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design. This honor identifies and spotlights the new generation of European architects for their stand-out projects, talent, and influence in architectural design, thinking, and theory that will impact future living and working environments. Alda is shortlisted for the 2022 WAN Female Frontiers Awards in the Emerging Architect of the Year category.
Alda received her Master of Architecture from Harvard University Graduate School of Design. Her work at Harvard GSD was nominated for the Thesis Award and was honored with Distinctions in several Option Design Studios. Alda received a Bachelor of Science in Architecture degree from Lawrence Technological University, Summa Cum Laude. She was honored with the Edward Donley Distinguished Graduate Award as the top graduate of the University. Alda has taught Architecture Studios at California College of the Arts and at the University of California Berkeley. As a Research and Teaching Assistant, she taught at Harvard University Graduate School of Design and at Lawrence Technological University. One of the research projects she contributed to while at Harvard was illustrations for a book on Nanomaterials, Nanotechnologies, and Design.
Prior to AÇA, Alda gained experience at several studios, including NADAAA, Kennedy Violich Architecture, Lowney Architecture, and Studios Architecture.
Alda is licensed to practice in the states of California and Massachusetts. Although recent work has been local Northern California projects, Alda can take on work outside these jurisdictions as the Design Architect, collaborating with other Local Record Architects.
